The other focus you see in my photo is the -50hp focus from the city of ascalon quest post sear.

It can be useful it you get yourself caught with 1-2 energy and a bunch of spells on you (wither, for example), that have your energy regeneration pinned at 0. That's about all I can think of.

Any idea where you get these pre-sear? I've got a character coming through there now and if they're a collectors' item or something, I'll pick some up.

The -2 energy focus's can be found ... anywhere in presear really.
Kill a lot of skale just outisde ascalon, and id any energy 2-3 focus's that they drop.
I only kept the 1 that i found, and will keep it i think, part of the collection, but yeh, farm skales a bit, and you'll find them eventually.

Geesh, 4-7 base damage to start with, and only does 81% of that. But, you deal that 3-6 fire damage 10% faster! Yay!

The thing you have to realize is that by equipping that focus you don't actually lose any energy. If you swap out that focus for a normal +12 energy one, you'll immediately gain +14 energy. All you're really doing by swapping foci around is manipulating your max and current energy to be wherever you want it to be. This focus is the only offhand tool for manipulating your energy total downward.

Applications include hiding energy from energy debil builds, 'swapping down' to take off Wither or Malaise, lowering your max energy for when you use 'lose all energy' skills, swapping to a low energy set so that you res with more energy. It's not critical by any stretch but it's a nice little tool for some advanced plays.

They're not collector's items, just world drops from some of the monsters there. You can get them from farming River Skales or Ice Golems - maybe some other mobs as well but those are the ones I know drop them. It's not a common drop by any stretch of the imagination.

Yep. I don't want to spend my time trying to farm pre-searing for one of these when I can be PvPing or farming something more profitable, so if someone is lucky enough to get one in pre-sear I'll throw money at 'em.

I'm pretty sure there's a scroll like that you can get from a quest in Ascalon, only with less energy and not rare. Still seems rather pointless though, either just make it say "Health +5" or remove one of the mods so it isn't useless.
